The Summer Reading Issue I don’t know about you, but no matter what the weather, I love to spend my free time reading and writing. When I was a kid, my mother would spend a good part of the summer trying to pry me away from my books, urging me to “go outside and play.” And play we did: My friends and I played tennis, softball, and swam. Cooking Up a Big Batch of Tasty March Madness OK, I’ve always been partial to March for a number of reasons: Spring Break, St. Patrick’s Day/Week, high school basketball’s March Madness – and of course, my birthday! This year is even more special, since the weather has been so spectacular! And a little bittersweet, since I’ve crossed the big birthday line – I’m no longer 59! Hot News Topics for October 2011: Steve Jobs, Herman Cain, the Cardinals 11th World Series Win, And… Wow! October is just about gone. When you think about its highlights, most certainly Steve Jobs’ death, Herman Cain’s campaign antics and the St Louis Cardinal’s amazing perseverance to win their 11th World Series title would have to be top of mind.
