Anne Holmes - Boomer in Chief at NABBW

My wish for you now and throughout the New Year is that these are woven into the fabric of your days. I believe that if we experience even one of them, we are rich, and richly blessed.

I took great care with selecting the quotes for this issue. All of them inspire me, and I hope they will you, as well. I’m not sure which might be my favorite, but as a constellation, I plan to use them to guide me in leading the NABBW in the coming year. So please be sure not to overlook them!

Please enjoy this issue. It’s been my pleasure to helm the NABBW for well over a year now, and we have many exciting new things planned for the coming year. I can’t wait to share them with you starting next month.

For now, let me just wish you Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Joyous Kwanzaa and best wishes for the coming year!

Don’t forget, NABBW is dedicated to supporting you and helping you live the best life possible. Be sure and use all your benefits, and if you’re not yet a member join now! Exciting things are happening here!

Christmas spice

My best season’s greetings to you and your family!

Anne L. Holmes

“Boomer in Chief”

PS Be sure to send us your news, and tell us what you think of this issue. As always, “I’m listening.”

Mary Anne Benedetto
Mary Anne writes that she has a new book, Never Say Perfect, which is coming down the home stretch for release in print form and for Nook and Kindle early 2012. Meanwhile, her book Eyelash was just released for Nook and Kindle. Priced at just $.99, it’s “a steal for those who’ve never read it and/or prefer that medium.”

Phyllis Goldberg, Ph.D. & Rosemary Lichtman, Ph.D.
Rosemary and Phyllis recently held one of their now famous Virtual Book Tours for poets Gloria Vando and her husband, Bill Hickok. It’s available on their website. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Dr. Dorree Lynn
Dr. Dorree suggests that if money is tight this year, opt for the free gift of love. Instead of giving things this year, give yourself. Give time to someone special. Give love to someone who needs it. Give yourself to someone you care about! “There’s nothing quite as romantic, for me, than warming up with my husband with a bottle of wine by the fireplace followed by some present unwrapping in the bedroom.

Carolyn Howard Johnson
Carolyn writes that “I thought many of my old writing friends would like to give their writing friends the gift of success. It’s not too late to order the beautiful new edition of The Frugal Book Promoter for a special writing friend for Christmas. It’s already a USA Book News award-winner! If you’d like to treat yourself to the new edition (Updated! Expanded!), with an autographed label, send me an email and put AUTHORGRAPH in the subject line. (-: “

Mara Purl
Mara writes, “This month, join me in Milford-Haven! And treat yourself to a holiday tale by downloading the beautiful short story Whose Angel Key Ring for Kindle, free in December. If you have a Nook, the story is only $1.99 – Whose Angel Key Ring for Nook.

Give The Gift Of NABBW Membership

There are LOTS of reasons to give a gift of an NABBW membership. Perhaps you want to:

  • Affirm a friendship
  • Share the power of the new site with a colleague
  • Honor a family member (your mother, your sister, your daughter, your grandmother…)
  • Connect with a loved one
  • Mark important events, like birthdays (Hey, the leading edge of Baby Boomer Women are starting to turn 65 in 2011…)
  • Give a little encouragement to someone who could use some support and nurturing
  • Celebrate a new beginning
  • Or just share the many joys (and challenges) of being a Baby Boomer Woman today…

Now it’s easier than ever to give a membership in NABBW as a gift. In the past, we arranged gift memberships on a one by one basis. NOW we’re offering gift certificates., and they’re EASY to arrange. All you need to do is click on the link below. It takes you to a sign-up page, which you need to fill out. Here’s how:

  • In the first set of boxes, you tell us about you. We’ll ask for your name, your email address (so we can contact you) and other simple contact information.
  • In the middle box, where it says “Additional Information,” simply type in your intended NABBW giftee’s name, email address (so we can send her the newsletters) and, optionally, the type of occasion you are recognizing with your gift of a year of NABBW membership. Also tell us whether you want to announce the gift yourself, or have us send an e-card.
  • Finally, in the third set of boxes, you provide us with information on how to charge your credit card, and click the box at the bottom that says “Complete Checkout.”
